Evaluation System

Evaluation system is structured analysis of multiple types of samples collected by the teachers to make judgements about the learning progress of the student. It aims at diagnosing learning obstacles faced by students and at the same time assessing the effectiveness of the curriculum design, educational policies and teachers own teaching approach. It has following steps-

Teaching-Learning cycle – preparation -> transaction -> assessment -> evaluation -> reflection

Assessment -> Evaluation

Assessment – it is the preliminary phase and systematic process to gather meaningful insights and evidence about the whole learning process through tests and assignments.

Evaluation – it pertains to the action phase and allows teacher to assess based on assessments records with reference to pre-set learning

Types of Evaluation

  1. Criterion Referenced Evaluation – Criterion referenced assessment (CRA) is the process of evaluating the learning of students against a set of pre-specified characteristics or criteria, without reference to the achievement of others.
  2. Formation Evaluation – Formative evaluation for learning, is a range of formal and informal assessment procedures conducted by instructor during the learning process in order to modify teaching and learning activities to improve student attainment.
  3. Diagnostic Evaluation – Diagnostic Evaluation aims to find out the nature and degree of learning difficulties faced by the learner, it involves gathering information about errors nature of and possible reason of errors, committed by learner.
  4. Prognostic Evaluation – Prognostic Evaluation aims to predict the possible degree of success in a particular subject area. It helps to gather evidence related to conceptual understanding and other prerequisite stills that are significant for success in that particular subject area.
